Leslye is a sweet, smart pug who is still settling in with her foster family and showing a little more of her personality every day. She has already slipped right into her new routine.
She has a signature “derpy” face that makes her hard to read at first, but don’t let it fool you. Leslye has a sense of humor. When she first arrived, the word “outside” sent her straight to a dog bed, and “inside” sent her to the far corner of the yard, where she’d wait to be collected. And when a visiting pug stopped by, she turned into the household rule enforcer, first in line for every cue and determined to prove she was the better pug. This girl’s got jokes!
Leslye loves to snuggle up at night, plays with her toys, and happily works on a bully stick. She knows several commands and is quick to learn. She lives peacefully with her foster brother, keeping an eye on him and respecting his space as she figures out how to be a good dog just like him. She’s also made sure the whole neighborhood knows she’s arrived by announcing every noise she hears.
Leslye does have some special needs. She has severe dry eye and pigmentary keratitis in both eyes, which limits her vision, so she needs eye medication and lubrication several times a day. Because she can’t see well, she can be cautious about sudden movements, and a patient, gentle family will help her feel safe. She also arrived with itchy skin, which is improving quickly with treatment, medicated baths, and a probiotic.
If you’re looking for a cuddly, clever companion with a playful side just waiting to come out, Leslye might be your perfect match! She’ll be spayed in mid-October, and will be adoptable after she’s recovered from that surgery.
